Me and my little one have made it to Sweden. We have been here a week now, one BUSY week. It started of nicely, with transport running on time in London, everything going according to our plan... until we reached Sweden. It ended up being a very long journey as trains got cancelled etc. But, phew, we made it to Dalarna in the end. The week was my busiest ever coming home with my brothers' wedding taking place. There where people everywhere, in the house, garden, anywhere you went. Lovely! But ah, nice to have some peace and quiet again I must say. People came from all over the world, and certainly made the week interesting! Me and Elliot's dad were two very proud parents at the end of the celebrations, as people praised us for how very relaxed the little one is! I guess everything going on around us was just way too interesting for Elliot to have time to get cranky! As dad now has gone back home to work, our little Elliot has been playing up slightly, maybe wondering where daddy went.
My brothers' wedding was beautiful. It is so touching to see your family members being that happy. It really opens ones eyes to the depth of the people around them, and even more so when these people are close to oneself. There were the usual stuff; speeches, dance, jokes, nice food and a lot to drink! The reception ended with me and my two younger brothers' performing a song. Simon plays drums, Johan plays guitar and I sing. It was lovely to do that for our brother Martin and his wife Lilian. I couldn't look at them as I was singing as I would have started crying. We had many nice comments afterwards, and it was so much fun to get up and sing again! But besides the wedding vowels and singing to the newly weds there were other great moments of the evening! After the reception everyone headed down to my childhood home, where my parents still live, to have wedding cake and to raise the May pole. The toast master of the evening also plays accordion and with music we all danced around the pole in the late midsummer evening, with the sun only setting for 2 hours. As the night carried on and alcohol had got to people, it ended nicely with my uncle stepping into the box filled with ice and beers, slipping and hitting his head on the wall of the tent in our garden, and spilling his entire cup of coffee over himself. Now, that was fun! I know, I'm cruel. Anyways, it was great to see everyone, cousins, aunties, uncles and friends!
The wedding, erm week, turned out sunny but cold, but now it is sunny and Hot. 28 Celsius, and we are waiting for lake Siljan to warm up. I cannot wait to take my first dip for 2009 in the lake!
Bye for now!
Below is the song I sang to my sister-in-law Lilian and my brother Martin.
Me and Elliot are getting pretty excited about the family event (s) taking place next week. My big brother is getting married, AND, it is mid summers in Sweden. That means the whole works; traditional costumes, lots and lots of nice food, dancing around the Maypole (haven't a clue why it's called Maypole when in fact it's a Junepole?), and of course a lot of drinking (probably not for me, and certainly, hopefully, not for Elliot either!). Do I have to speak in front of 80 or so people? Oh d-d-dear as Piglet would have put it. I am no fan of speaking in public. I sing, but don't talk! I should speak about memories, preferably embarrassing moment of my brothers', I guess, but sh-t, what if I simple just can't remember any of those? Any ideas? Mother? Father? Brothers??? Help!
Elliot has had a big week with standing up, rolling over, and having his first solid foods. I know, I know, the rule is exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months. Ah hell, we just couldn't wait! Both Elliot and the carrots were calling me, I simply could not resist any longer!
Anyhow... So I hear one has to have scandals one ones blog for people to read it (so my dad says...) But what if I don't want people to read it? Alright, I promise, there will be scandals coming soon... Trust me, there are a few in my life! Or maybe not scandals... but, something like it I guess
Lastly, baby, I look forward to moving those feet of yours, smoothly, on the dance floor next weekend! x
PS.
A question to you all, why is it one can not stand still on the bicycle without falling but don't whilst moving? What are the physics? Anyone?
